The Eighth International Conference on Remote Sensing and Geoinformation of Environment or RSCy2020 will be held in Cyprus on 16-18 March 2020.

The RSCy2020 is organized by the Cyprus Remote Sensing Society in cooperation with ESA, NASA, Copernicus, DLR, Group On Earth Observations, the Department of Electronic Communications of the Ministry of Communications and Works, the Technical Chamber of Cyprus, the Cyprus Department of Meteorology and the Agricultural Research Institute.

The conference is published by SPIE.

The topics of the conference are numerous and include among others:

  1. Earth Observation research projects, applications and emerging technologies
  2. Environment & climate research, Resilient society (disasters risk reduction, cultural heritage, marine safety and security, energy)
  3. Big Earth data analytics (information extraction, visual exploration and visualization, crowd-sourcing and data fusion, geo-informatics)
  4. Remote Sensing Applications, Geo-information, Geophysics
  5. Remote sensing & geo-information in education
  6. Oil exploration, Oil and Gas – Hydrocarbons
  7. Marine Spatial Planning, Coastal Zone Management
  8. Geoinformation for Blue Economy & Blue Growth
  9. Environmental Monitoring and Protection, Risk Assessment
  10. Field spectroscopy

Also the EXCELSIOR Technical Workshop will take place on Wednesday.

Public information on plans and prospects of EXCELSIOR related infrastructure for space operations, monitoring and environmental research and how these can be used for the projects and challenges in the Eastern Mediterranean will be presented in the workshop.

RSCy2020 being an international conference on remote sensing, participants can submit abstracts and papers for oral or poster presentations. Selected articles from this conference will be published in international journals.

GEO University is a proud supporter of RSCy2020 by sponsoring the Best Paper Award with our GEO Premium package. GEO Premium is our subscription package that includes all our courses with one year access.

About the writer

I'm a Remote Sensing and a Surveying Engineer. I received my degree from NTUA in 2010, where I also received my Ph.D. in hyperspectral remote sensing in 2016. From graduation in 2010, my career started as a Researcher Associate and Teaching Associate in the Laboratory of Remote Sensing of NTUA. From that time I also worked at several private companies as a Remote Sensing Expert and Geospatial Analyst. From the beginning of 2015 I was positioned as Senior Earth Observation Expert. During these years, I have participated in more than 20 funded European Commission and European Space Agency projects, have over 16 peer reviewed scientific publications in the field of Remote Sensing, and have an international patent in hyperspectral data compression. My main research and professional interests are in the optical remote sensing area, where I specialize in data (images, point measurements) processing and algorithm design and development. Some of the software tools that I operate to accomplish my research and business dreams are SNAP, ENVI, IDL, QGIS, ERDAS Imagine, ArcGIS, and Python. I have been working with these tools since 2008.
